<itunes:subtitle>The first show of the year begins with Benjamin's review of the 2025 BMW M5, which boasts way more power than the outgoing model, but has us questioning the goals of such a high-end, high-performance sedan. Then Sami talks about the 2025 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90, which feature the same platform and powertrains, but differ on in their seating layout...and that's it. It seems like Mazda is leaving quite a lot on the table with these two crossovers.</itunes:subtitle>

While the guys are thawing out from an icy cold winter season, they're eager to talk about some of the hotest new cars on the market. Benjamin starts this week off with a review of the 2025 BMW M5, a car that's heavier and more powerful than the vehicle it replaces, but now picks up a fancy plug-in hybrid powertrain that can pre-gear for more impressive launches using all 700+ of its horsepower. Benjamin is eager to describe just how special this new M5 is, but wonders who is this vehicle for, what with its varying goals and innovations. Sami suggests it's a car that can do it all, but is there a customer out there looking for what the BMW offers or should they opt for something else?

Then Sami talks about his time in two new, but very similar Mazdas. The 2025 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 are offered with the same powertrains, either a turbo six cylinder model or a plug-in hybrid, and both use the same platform, but are available in either a two or three-row setup. However, Sami points out that the five-seater CX-70 feels like a lackluster effort, and the automaker has a lot of other low points too, including the plug-in powertrain and cumbersome infotainment system. Is this the best Mazda can do?

Then the guys riff on a listener question before closing it up for the week. Thanks for listening!

<itunes:subtitle>It's a return to Unnamed Automotive Podcast form, as Benjamin describes the fun-to-drive enthusiast-oriented vehicle known as the 2022 Hyundai Kona N. Only available with an automatic, and rolling with FWD, he shares his thoughts on the latest speedy Korean crossover. Then Sami is sent off to Europe to try the new 2023 Mazda CX-60. While the CX-60 won't come to the US, it's big brother the CX-90 will be, featuring the same rear-wheel-drive platform and powertrains.

Whoa now, are you looking for more automotive shenanigans and blabber? Then you came to the right place, as Sami and Benjamin are eager to share their thoughts on the latest happenings in the automotive industry. First Benjamin talks about the 2022 Hyundai Kona N, a high-performance, yet front-wheel-drive crossover that may have spelled doom for the first Hyunda N product. Hear how a capital-E enthusiast like Ben feels about a FWD, automatic-only performance car, and then take a trip back in time with him to when weird spicy crossovers were all the rage.

Then flyboy Sami talks about his bizarre mission from Europe, where he tested out the not-for-America 2023 Mazda CX-60. The CX-60 features the same platform and powertrain of the upcoming CX-90, just in a smaller package, so now Sami and you, our odeal listener, have an idea of what's going on behind the doors at Mazda. It's easy to forget that this automaker worked on such wild ideas as the compression ignition engine, rotary engine and DEF-less diesel engine, so what can go wrong with another weird change of pace? Benjamin also provides an interesting update on his Grand Wagoneer, and explains why he won't be towing with it anytime soon.
