Benjamin's 2026 Kia EV4 review may leave our American listeners confused since it isn't coming the the US market, but the Canadians get to enjoy this weird looking EV and its several positives. It looks good, has pretty good range and an attractive pricetag, so whats the catch?

Then Sami reviews the 2026 Lexus TX with seven seats, and he gets to use all seven of those luxury-lined seats. The review leaves Benjamin and Sami wondering what other true three-row luxury crossovers are out there, and which ones can compete at the TX's price point. Thanks for listening!

The show starts off with the 2024 MINI Countryman S All4, an all-new version of the MINI crossover with a fresh platform along with revised styling inside and out. Benjamin gives his take on the small-ish vehicle, as well as what he thinks of the brands new infotainment system.

Following that, Sami gives a quick review of the 2024 Kia Sorento SX X-Line, a known crossover with mild updates for this year. However, while this Sorento coasts its way to its retirement off the media press fleet, Sami has noticed a few concerning QA issues. Don't miss what he finds about this so-called family car! Thanks for listening!

This week, Benjamin drives the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, a mainstream offering found on the same Ultium platform as many other high end EVs like the Acura ZDX and Cadillac Lyriq. Benjamin discusses his experience in the Chevy, and compares it to other popular mainstream options like the the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Nissan Ariya and VW ID.4. The pair also discuss whether GM is on track or not in this highly competitive segment.

Then Sami checks out the 2025 Kia Carnival Hybrid, which swaps out the V6 from the gas model for a hybrid powertrain boasting nearly 50 percent better fuel efficiency, without much of a compromise. But is this upgraded Carnival a big deal in the minivan market? How does it compare to the Toyota Sienna, Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey? Sami discusses it all on this week's episode. Thanks for listening!!

<itunes:subtitle>The 2024 Kia EV9 gets top billing on this week's episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast. A three-row electric vehicle, the EV9 may be a bit compromised to deliver the electric experience the Kia has been known for lately. Then Sami tries out the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, which is one of the few plug-in three-row crossovers out there. However, its size and limited appeal see it struggle to stand out. Thanks for listening!</itunes:subtitle>

There are two electrified SUVs to talk about on this weeks Unnamed Automotive Podcast. First up Benjamin drives the 2024 Kia EV9, an all-electric three row SUV, which faces limited competition. Kia has plenty of experience with electrified platforms, so Benjamin dives into what makes the EV9 work and where it struggles.

Then Sami gets his turn in the 2024 Mazda CX-90 Plug-in Hybrid. With a little over 20 miles of electric driving range the Japanese crossover has limited appeal as an electric alternative to the many three-rows out there, but the rest of the package may be able to save that fact. On the other hand, Sami suggests that there may be too many compromises and very little substance to the new Mazda, and that has him worried about the future of the brand. Thanks for listening!

<itunes:subtitle>This week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, the guys talk about some cars that may not seem popular but have a lot going for them. Consider the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime that Ben recently tested. Packing an attractive exterior, the Prius had a major glow-up, and Benjamin says there's more beneath this superficial upgrade. Then Sami talks about the 2024 Kia Carnival and how it stacks up as a family vehicle, even with those power second row seats. Benjamin even chimes in with his experience with the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV. Thanks for listening!</itunes:subtitle>

Are unpopular and sorta strange cars really actually good? That's the question this week's episode is pursuing as our hosts drive some weird and wonderful cars that have had a bad reputation in the past. First up Benjamin drives the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime, aka "the sexy Prius." With 44 miles of all electric range, the Prius Prime is no longer the geeky favourite of Leonardo DiCaprio, but a surprisingly good looking, functional car that isn't too bad to drive, or so Benjamin says. Listen the whole segment to get his final say, not to mention a fun tangent about other phevs that disappeared over the years.

Then Sami brings up the 2024 Kia Carnival, which played dad van duties when his extended family dropped in. With tons of tech, space and cool powered second row seats, the Carnival should be a hit with families, but Sami says the Korean minivan has a fatal flaw which may make it fall out of favor with those looking for a three row superstar. On the other hand, Benjamin's recent moving experience with the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV suggests that you don't need a family to thoroughly test a van, especially one as efficient as this particular hybrid.

Thanks for listening! See you all next week!

The sun's out and it's hot, so of course it's a perfect time to hear the latest episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, especially since we've got one of the few sub-$100k roadsters left on the market to discuss. To save you the trouble of guessing, we'll just say it's the drop top Toyota Supra, aka the 2023 BMW X4, which has been lightly refreshed ("kinda" according to Benjamin.) The Z4 has apparently gotten quicker thanks to the fusion of some some German and Japanese witchcraft, and Benjamin has more than a few things to share about his experience in one of the few luxury droptops available.

Then Sami chimes in to talk about the refreshed 2024 Kia Seltos X-Line, which gets a rugged new design, and an upscale looking interior. But Sami isn't convinced that this is the best Is can do, so be sure to hear what is making him tick about this Korean subcompact.

Finally the guys discussion subscription features, Corvettes and hot hatch resale values before closing out the show. Thanks for listening!

What's in a plug? First up Benjamin describes his time with the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning EV, a fully electric pickup truck with a number of handy features than he had to test out. Can the Lightning power up a stranded EV? Sami begs Benjamin to tell us if the future of electric trucks bleak or promising.

Then Sami talks about a pair of plug-in hybrid crossovers. The 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been a face in this segment for a long long long time, and has been renewed with Nissan bones. The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is a bit less familiar, but has a few interesting changes compared to the similar Hyundai Tucson PHEV. Weight, seating, and other charging gimmicks help differentiate these two, but Sami comes down with an interesting verdict when it comes to summing these rides up.

Refreshed and updated for 2023, the Telluride goes through some important changes, which may place it among the best in the class. Not only that, the guys got their hands on the two new Telluride trim levels, the X-Line and X-Pro, which boast some rugged appeal and extra ground clearance.

Then we ask about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and why GM is planning to omit these handy features from its next generation EVs. We discuss why they'd take such an easy loss here and what it means for car buyers. Thanks for listening!

New year, new S-You-Vs! The the Unnamed Automotive Podcast returns with a pair of 'off-road inspired' SUVs to talk about. Benjamin gets plenty of time in the new 2023 Kia Sportage X-Line, and asks if ruggedness was standard in past iterations of the Kia cute-ute. The pair discuss the variety of options and features available in the Kia, and compare it to the recent Honda CR-V to determine which one is best destined for buyers driveways.

Then Sami chimes in about his experience with the 2023 Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition with the Apex Package. A stylish crossover with high-end, off-road aspirations, Sami and Benjamin seem a bit puzzled at its place in the lineup. Can it still be a success story despite awkward pricing, size, and infotainment?

Finally, Benjamin and Sami announce the winner of last month's contest! Be sure to listen, subscribe and review the podcast, and even consider tipping on Ko-Fi.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Benjamin finds himself in yet another hulking V8 powered monster: the 2022 Jaguar F-Pace SVR. With 550 ponies and an accompanying eight-cylinder soundtrack to boot, he has plenty to say about this European SUV while the rest of its rivals wave goodbye to high displacement engines for good.

Sami on the other hand is here to talk about the new 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid, and is amazed at how much it's grown over the years. Now reasonably high end, the Sportage has a few small issues but leaves some big impressions.

Sami and Benjamin have returned from their vacations with plenty of stories to tell. First the two catch up with all the cool cars and sights during their travels, with Ben reflecting on a certain era of vehicle that stands out in his mind after an unusual old school Honda Pilot encounter.

Then the pair dive into a conversation about the new 2022 Kia EV6, an all-electric car that's mechanically similar to the Hyundai IONIQ 5, but with different styling and, somehow, more range. Benjamin describes his experience in vivid detail and explains why the EV6 nets 20 more miles on the EPA test cycle, along with the car's fatal flaw. You'll definitely want to hear whether or not you should pick one up over the similar IONIQ.

Then the two talk about some news that's been burning through automotive circles. Cadillac has been caught trying to get buyers of its new Lyriq EV to sign an NDA, which caught the attention of NHTSA, which relies on owner information and reports to determine safety concerns. Then the guys talk about the weird new Toyota Crown, which sports a body style that defies convenvention, along with why you would ever design a car that offered FWD, RWD, and AWD in the same package.

All that and more inside jokes and pure car talk can be found in this week's episode, so be sure to listen! Also consider sending us a review, or some feedback, since we love to hear from our listeners!

Then Sami jumps into the 2022 Kia Telluride, a former darling of the automotive media. The Kia had also seen new rivals in the form of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the Nissan Pathfinder. Can it still keep up? Should shoppers wait for the newly announced 2023 model? Sami jumps into each of those questions with reckless abandon and little time to think, so be ready for off-the-cuff answers.

Sami talks about his time and experience in the 2022 Subaru Forester WILDerness. This vehicle seems intent on reminding shoppers where Subaru lands on the SUV ruggedness scale, and that's 'at the tippy top.' With more ground clearance, beefy tires, skid plates and additional cooling, it's designed to be a rugged Forester, even though that seemed to be the default Subaru method not too long ago

Benjamin jumps in to talk about empeegees with the 2022 Kia Sorento PHEV. Is its teeny turbo gas engine and electric drivetrain enough to motivate this three row, six passenger SUV? Ben talks about efficiency and performance, and how they balance out the styling and pricing of the new model.

Finally the duo answer questions from listeners about new age parking strategies and the Dodge Journey. Listen, subscribe, and enjoy!

Benjamin discusses his go around in the 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line, a crossover that strives to be the median point beween the standard Kona and the speedy Kona N. Hyundai is trying to follow the path of the German M Sports and AMG Lines, but is the Kona N-Line a successful push in the right direction? Is this just a style and attitude package, a weak echo of the Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk?

Sami then chimes in with his recent experience in two compact hatchbacks. A dying breed, the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback and the Canada-only 2022 Kia Forte5 GT are both available with manual transmissions. Sami seems to think the hatchback styling of these cars stray too close to the sedan variants, and that cars like these are slowly losing their relevance to crossovers.

Finally, the duo discuss high-performanc driving techniques and how they apply to driving in the snow.

<itunes:subtitle>All those practical enthusiasts waiting on a new luxury car can breathe easy: the 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe has arrived. Sami takes a good look at the quirky and weird hatchback-sport-sedan-thing, and describes the best places for a scorpion to hide out within its funky body design. Then Benjamin chimes in with his raves about the 2022 Kia Carnival, a luxury minivan with 2nd row thrones that recline like a barber chair! Finally Sami talks brand new video games for a quick moment, and how much he loves games that treat enthusiasts and newbies honestly.</itunes:subtitle>

Sami starts things off with a discussion of the new 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, a weird car that fills a narrow space in the industry, but seems to capture the hearts of enthusiasts (or at least Sami's) in a way that no robot (Subaru or Honda branded one) can match.

Also, the pair ponder where a scorpion would hide out from the heat within the folds of the BMW's design. This segment has a ton of fun segues, including "remember the (insert random acroynm of BMW vehicle here)?" and "What's better, a weird hatchback, a wagon, or a lifted wagon with body cladding?"

Benjamin then brings up how much fun he had with the 2022 Carnival, Kia's new minivan that goes all-in on luxury. While Sami whines that "minivans are for families," Benjamin remains perfectly composed in describing the true K-luxury offered by #vanlife.

Finally, Sami talks quickly about a pair of video games he's been playing that seem to treat car enthusiasts honestly: Forza Horizon 5 and Hot Wheels Unleashed. As usual, check out the website for more content, and don't forget to subscribe or send a review!

Is the 2021 Mazda CX-9 a stealth luxury SUV at a much more affordable price? Sami also works out a comparison between two SUVs: the 2021 Toyota Highlander and the newer 2021 Kia Telluride challenger, and discovers that Toyota fans might not be shopping around before making their pick.

The pair also review the book '1970 Maximum Muscle,' which dives deep into the pinnacle of muscle car power and pegs that particular year as the apex of big cubic inches.

Benjamin offers a counterpoint to Sami's past drive of the 2022 Acura MDX SUV by asking why anyone would pick this particularly hauler over any other premium crossover. Sami loves the look and feel of the 2021 Kia K5 GT-Line AWD but questions just how well its drivetrain stands up to direct competitors like the Toyota Camry.

The pair wrap things up with a look at the new (off-road) Ford Explorer Timberline and the redesigned 2022 Honda Civic.

The 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge is the Swedish brand's very first all-electric vehicle, and the most powerful version of the XC40 SUV to date. Benjamin dives in to the good and the bad about driving this high-end EV during winter's bitter cold, and compares it against the much cheaper 2021 Kia Soul EV's performance under the same conditions.

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer RS resurrects a name that at first feels laden with SUV heritage, but as Benjamin points out isn't all fun and two-door off-roading games. Sami's time behind the Blazer's wheel reveals mixed feelings about why GM didn't go all the way in making the family ride live up to its potential.

Benjamin then discusses his week-long try-out of the 2021 Kia Stinger GT as a potential year-round daily driver, and mentions what he still loves about the twin-turbo hatch, and what let him down in the years between his first drive back in 2018 and the current model.

The pair wrap things up by pitting the Mustang SVT Cobra 'Terminator' against the 2018+ Mustang PP1 to answer a listener question about which would be the better high performance buy.

The 2019 Mazda 3 is here - but parts of it are missing in action. Benjamin drives Mazda's redesigned compact car and muses on what the absence of Skyactiv X (and the cost of going AWD) mean for the brand. Sami contributes with his time behind the wheel of the 2019 Kia Stinger GT, this time with a turbo 4 in place of the big-dog twin-turbo six. The pair also get off on a weird tangent about how to pronounce 'Mazda.'

When is weird too weird? When is weird not enough? That's what Sami attempts to discover when comparing the 2018 Kia Soul crossover to the 2018 Toyota CH-R. Benjamin jumps in with his strangely authoritative opinions on why, exactly, a whole bunch of other strange-looking SUVs failed where the Soul has succeeded. He then talks about his time driving the twin-turbo rotary-powered FD Mazda RX-7 from the Mazda classic collection, while Sami quietly seethes with jealousy.

The 2018 Honda Fit Sport proves that no one should be buying SUVs if what they really care about is practicality - at least, that's what Benjamin has to say on this week's episode after spending serious time with the subcompact hatchback. Sami counters with the ultra-efficient, 50-mpg Kia Niro, and boldy claims it to be better than the over-styled Toyota Prius. Plus: bonus trash talk about the leaked Toyota Supra specs, and a serial killer story from Korea with an expected link to the Kia Niro.

The Kia Stinger GT has been aimed squarely at BMW, Audi, and Lexus luxury cars, but does this grand tourer have the performance and poise required to get a seat at that table? Benjamin spends a day with the Stinger GT in L.A. to answer that question.
