<itunes:subtitle>The Unnamed Automotive Podcast covers two distinctly different electrified vehicles on this weeks show. First Benjamin reviews the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, a three-row EV that replaces the gas-only (and fairly mundane) XT6. Then our hosts take a look at the plug-in version of the 2025 Toyota Prius, and try to see if it has what it takes to be one of the best commuter cars on the market. Thanks for listening! </itunes:subtitle>

<description>Benjamin fires up the show with his take on the 2026 Cadillac Vistiq, an electric three-row crossover that seems to be replacing Caddy;s own XT6. With 102 kWh of battery on tap, and over 600 hp, this is a big player in the world of EVs, but what else makes it stand out? While the world of three-row EVs is relatively slim, Benjamin suggests that the Vistiq might have a chance to be the best in its class, if only GM could sort out some small teething issues first.
Then the show turns towards plug-in hybrids, as Benjamin and Sami quickly discuss the 2025 Toyota Prius PHEV. Formerly crowned as car of the year, the guys pinpoint what makes this Prius special compared to previous ones, and whether this plug-in variant is one of the best commuter cars on the market. Thanks for listening!

<itunes:subtitle>This week the guys talk about every form of electrification on the market, starting with a review of the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, including how it performs on a road trip and any strange hiccups encountered during the test-drive. Then Sami tests out the award-winning 2024 Toyota Prius AWD, to find out what the hubbub is all about. Finally Benjamin chats with us about the cold-weather performance of the rear-wheel-drive 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5. Thanks for listening!</itunes:subtitle>

<description>The Unnamed Automotive Podcasts goes dipstick deep (eww, no) into electrification this week with a discussion of every kind of electric car available these days. First Benjamin talks about the 2024 Mazda CX-90 PHEV, and how the Japanese automaker adopts its new large three-row crossover to a (hopefully) more efficient model of transportation. Benjamin goes road tripping in his electron-enhanced Mazda, and finds a few hiccups that mar the overall experience.
Then Sami gets curious about all the award hype going on for the 2024 Toyota Prius AWD and checks it out himself. With more power, extroverted styling and a 'normal' looking cabin, the Toyota hybrid feels completely removed from the original example that came out nearly 25 years ago - but is it for the better?
Finally Benjamin takes the rear-wheel-drive 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 for a spin in the snow to see if the big battery and evenly distrubuted weight make for a confident drive in slippery conditions. Then he finds out a harsh truth about EVs in cold weather... Thanks for listening, and be sure to check in next week!

<itunes:subtitle>This week on the Unnamed Automotive Podcast, the guys talk about some cars that may not seem popular but have a lot going for them. Consider the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime that Ben recently tested. Packing an attractive exterior, the Prius had a major glow-up, and Benjamin says there's more beneath this superficial upgrade. Then Sami talks about the 2024 Kia Carnival and how it stacks up as a family vehicle, even with those power second row seats. Benjamin even chimes in with his experience with the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV. Thanks for listening!</itunes:subtitle>

<description>Are unpopular and sorta strange cars really actually good? That's the question this week's episode is pursuing as our hosts drive some weird and wonderful cars that have had a bad reputation in the past. First up Benjamin drives the 2023 Toyota Prius Prime, aka "the sexy Prius." With 44 miles of all electric range, the Prius Prime is no longer the geeky favourite of Leonardo DiCaprio, but a surprisingly good looking, functional car that isn't too bad to drive, or so Benjamin says. Listen the whole segment to get his final say, not to mention a fun tangent about other phevs that disappeared over the years.
Then Sami brings up the 2024 Kia Carnival, which played dad van duties when his extended family dropped in. With tons of tech, space and cool powered second row seats, the Carnival should be a hit with families, but Sami says the Korean minivan has a fatal flaw which may make it fall out of favor with those looking for a three row superstar. On the other hand, Benjamin's recent moving experience with the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica PHEV suggests that you don't need a family to thoroughly test a van, especially one as efficient as this particular hybrid.
Thanks for listening! See you all next week!

<itunes:subtitle>While our hosts can sometimes be a bit nit-picky, this week's episode brings real criticism to a pair of disappointing 2022 models. First Sami discusses the 2022 Volvo XC60 B6, which gets a fresh infotainment system, new electrical system and a weird naming scheme for its motors. Then Benjamin gets in the 2022 Toyota Prius Prime, a plug-in version of everyone's favorite hybrid. Despite the not quite freezing temperatures, Benjamin's feeling cold as ICE towards the Japanese PHEV, and has plenty of reasons to be upset. Listen here!</itunes:subtitle>

<description>On this week's episode our hosts dive deep into a pair of cars that struggle to impress. First Sami describes the mild updates to the 2022 Volvo XC60 B6, which gets a new Johan De Nysschen-like nomenclature to go along with a Google-branded operating system and a beefy 48-volt electrical system. Is the twin-charged motor and minimalist styling enough to save this Swedish luxury crossover from Sami's ire and discontent?
Next, Benjamin gets his hands on the 2022 Toyota Prius Prime, a plug-in variant of the popular, yet one-note hybrid. Listen to how Benjamin's frustrating experience with the car's electric range fails to match up with its advertised figures, then hear his one weird trick to using as little gas as possible.

<itunes:subtitle>Benjamin is pleasantly surprised by the tiny-yet-huge-inside 2018 Honda Fit Sport, while Sami tries to think of sports the Fit Sport would fail at while recounting his experiences with the Kia Niro Hybrid. The pair then argue about how sad the leaked specs for the upcoming Toyota Supra truly are, and whether the once-proud sports car is about to be re-born as an also-ran. Finally, Benjamin tells an off-color story about Korean serial killers from the time he traveled to Seoul to drive a prototype version of the Niro.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>The 2018 Honda Fit Sport proves that no one should be buying SUVs if what they really care about is practicality - at least, that's what Benjamin has to say on this week's episode after spending serious time with the subcompact hatchback. Sami counters with the ultra-efficient, 50-mpg Kia Niro, and boldy claims it to be better than the over-styled Toyota Prius. Plus: bonus trash talk about the leaked Toyota Supra specs, and a serial killer story from Korea with an expected link to the Kia Niro.

<itunes:subtitle>Benjamin drives the Lexus LC 500 luxury grand touring car and its 500h hybrid sibling back-to-back, while Sami pits the VW Tiguan, the Honda CR-V, the Chevrolet Equinox, and the Nissan Rogue in a compact crossover battle royale, with surprising results. Finally, the pair get really silly talking about the Toyota Prius Prime.</itunes:subtitle>

<description>The Lexus LC 500 is one of the best-looking and best-sounding luxury coupes on the market, but how does it hold up on the cold streets of Montreal? And who, exactly, would choose its 500h hybrid showroom-mate over the standard 500's V8 thunder? Benjamin drives them back-to-back to answer that question. Sami, on the other hand, spends a week driving not one, but four compact SUVs: the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Honda CR-V, the Nissan Rogue, and the Chevrolet Equinox, to see which one comes out on top. Wrapping things up, the pair discuss the Toyota Prius Prime plug-in hybrid, and specifically, how to devise a system that lets everyone around you know just how efficient you're driving. Spoiler alert: it involves the birth of a brand-new lifeform.
